Machine 8R:
The connection wrapped around the column resembles the one illustrated in folio 14R, characterized by a singular metal bar attached to the ring connection. However, its function is distinct. This connection permits both column rotation and, consequently, its erection. Yet, the utmost raised position depends on the position of the ring connection relative to the column ’s centre of mass. When situated higher on the column, it results in a more vertical positioning. Moreover, this apparatus includes a safety mechanism that lends support to the shaft during the installation of additional metal bars if required.
